Encounters with Glass: Roberto Camerino meets Murano

Roberta Camerino Atelier and Amy West Design Studio joined forces for the Venice Glass Week 2020, creating a fantastic series of activities in collaboration with Murano Jewels, a newly formed group involving local Murano glass artists and artisans. A two part exhibition, Encounters with Glass: Roberta Camerino Meets Murano, will be open to the public in both Venice and Murano. Throughout the Venice Glass Week, also available to the public, are guided tours, lectures, and workshops for DIY design and glass experiences; lamp-working hot glass demonstrations and FESTA~toasts and cheers at exhibition openings and the Friday Night Furnace Party. Roberta Camerino Atelieris premiering at Venice Glass Week this year, in collaboration with AWD Studio and Murano Jewels, multiple glass artists and artisans from Murano. On display is a brand new body of work from these Murano glass artists, inspired by the works and life of Venetian couture and fashion mogul, Roberta di Camerino. Designs, colors and collections from the studio and archives of Roberta di Camerino, inspire the in-situ exhibition featuring jewelry, bags, belts, scarves, and other accessories, all incorporating Murano glass.

Amy West established her artisanal business in 2012, gradually growing into Amy West Design Studio (AWD Studio), producing bespoke jewelry, engraved glasses and sculpted glass vessels. AWD Studio focuses on the singular aspects of color, design and quality, creating collections of unique works in glass, bringing each of these components into harmonic balance.

As AWD Studio grows, its scope expands, conceiving new activities and group collaborations involving local artists and artisans, the Murano Jewels, developing a more cohesive broader representation for all vested, local glass workers. The Venice Glass Week 2020 collaboration with Roberta Camerino is the second such joint activity, the first being undertaken in 2019 with the non-profit organization, Murano Viva, for the 2019 Venice Glass Week exhibition, Vetro sulla pelle.

Both Murano and Venice exhibition locations will have a selection of works for sale: Murano artists with a wide range of accessories in Murano glass, and Roberta Camerino Atelier original vintage dresses and accessories from the 1970s collections, and new works from Dadhai by Roberta Camerino.
